Creation of the Fund
To pay tribute to Bob who was selfless and untiring
when it came to VKCCI and the knights of Columbus, the VKCCI
board established the Robert D. Neary Award on September 12,
1998. VKCCI established an endowment fund where the
principle of the fund will never be used, only the interest.
The funding of the endowment will be through $500 donations
from Councils and Assemblies to recognize special
members.
Honoring and Individual or Family
Do you have a member in your Council who has done
many things because he loves it and never asks for anything
in return? Would you like to pay a special tribute to that
person and at the same time support VKCCI? The Knights or
families of a Knight to be recognized must have made a long
term commitment to the Knights of Columbus. The Community,
their Church, and their Family. Nominations can be made at
any time and will be recognized with the Robert D Neary
Award.
What to do
Contact any member of the VKCCI board of directors or
your District Deputy and ask for the Robert D. Neary Award
form. Simply follow the general instructions and mail the
form with a check in the amount of $500 to the VKCCI
President. At the State meeting your council will be
recognized as participating in this program. An engraved
Robert D. Neary Award in the name of your honoree will be
presented to the Grand Knight for presentation at an
appropriate time.
